1.1       Centre of Digital Excellence

 

Tim Ponting, Establishment Director of the Centre of Digital Excellence provided an update on the Centre of Digital Excellence and responded to questions.

4          Declarations of interest

Members were reminded of the need to stand aside from decision-making when a conflict arose between their role as an elected representative and any private or other external interest they might have.

Part A Reports

6          Economic Development Committee Forward Work Programme - July 2022

 

A report from Corporate Policy provided the forward work programme for the 2022 year. 

The Manager Enterprise Dunedin (John Christie) responded to questions.

a)     Notes the Economic Development Committee forward work programme.

7          Centre of Digital Excellence (CODE) Update Report

 

A report from Enterprise Dunedin provided an update on milestones achieved in the development of the New Zealand Centre of Digital Excellence (CODE) in Dunedin.   It also summarised Dunedin City Council’s future role in CODE Limited.

The Manager Enterprise Dunedin (John Christie) and the Economic Development Manager (Fraser Liggett) spoke to the report and responded to questions.

Cr Chris Staynes left the meeting at 1.56 pm and Cr Andrew Whiley assumed the Chair.

Cr Chris Staynes returned to the meeting at 1.57 pm and resumed the Chair.

a)     Notes the activities and milestones completed by Enterprise Dunedin and economic development stakeholders in developing CODE Limited

b)     Notes the accountability for CODE has been novated from Dunedin City Council to the new legal CODE Limited.

8          Economic Development Strategy - Six Month Progress Report to April 2022

 

Cr Sophie Barker left the meeting at 2.52 pm.

Cr David Benson-Pope left the meeting at 3.00 pm.

A report prepared by the Grow Dunedin Partnership provided a six-month update to April 2022, on the progress of the actions of the Economic Development Strategy 2013-23.

Mr John Gallaher and Ms Barbara Bridger spoke to the report and responded to questions.
