Part A Reports

Hearing Schedule for the Annual Plan and Late Submissions

Department: Civic

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

1      The purpose of this report is to provide the Councillors with a schedule of submitters wishing to present their views at the Annual Plan hearings during the week beginning 6 May 2019, and to consider whether or not to accept late submissions received.

2      Approximately 465 submissions have been received, with 61 submitters wishing to present their submissions to Councillors.  Submissions closed on 15 April 2019.

3      Six submissions have been received since the closing date.

RECOMMENDATIONS

That the Committee:

a)     Notes the report.

b)     Considers whether or not to receive the late submissions.

Discussion

4      All of the late submissions received were tagged as late submissions and have not been assigned topics.  The late submissions were received from:

Name

Submission Number

Sonja Mitchell

713480

Philippa Harris, Dunedin Symphony Orchestra

713899

Lesley Hirst

713301

Penny Dickson

713297

Alan Jackson – The Archibald Baxter Memorial Trust

713267

Matt Mengel

5      No new topics have been introduced in the late submissions received, but they did include two funding requests.  Alan Jackson of the Archibald Baxter Memorial Trust outlines the plans for building the memorial and requests funding (amount unspecified) from the Dunedin City Council to assist in its construction.

6      The Dunedin Symphony Orchestra (DSO) has requested an annual increase of $150,000 in the Community Access Subsidy grant it receives.  The DSO is also requesting a one-off assistance grant of $100,000 to allow it to continue to operate sustainably until its long-term operating environment is clarified, pending the outcome of a study.

7      Hearings for the Annual Plan will be held over the week beginning 6 May 2019 as follows:

Monday 6 May                    10.15 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesday 7 May                  9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

8      Attached to this report is the Annual Plan Speaking Schedule.  Please note that the schedule for next week may be subject to change.  An updated scheduled will be emailed to councillors as necessary.

9      As this is an administrative only report, a summary of considerations is not required.
