1.1 Public Forum - Update on Community Garden Community Facilities

Cynthia Flanagan advised that community facilities should not be privately occupied and any decision on the future use of buildings in the Railways precinct should involve community participation. |
1.2 Public Forum - Update on Community Garden and Community Facilities
|
Andrea Bosshard advised that the Community Garden is supplying fresh fruit and vegetables to the community and there are plans to develop it further. She also commented that the Community requires space to undertake a range of activities and suggested that they buy the buildings in the railway precinct for $1. She suggested that an independently chaired community meeting be held to discuss the proposal. |

6 Middlemarch Flooding Mitigation |

Michelle Mifflin, Manager Engineering, Jean-Luc Payan, Natural Hazards Manager and Gary La Hood (Water Engineer), 0tago Regional Council provided an update on Flood Mitigation in the Middlemarch Township and surrounding areas.

7 Scattered Seeds Digital Archive Community Project |

The Digital Outreach Co-ordinators, Kay Mercer and Jill Bowie were in attendance and introduced the Scattered Seeds Digital Archie Community Project. It was suggested that a community session be held with an exhibition of interesting items and residents could have their items scanned.

In a report the Governance Support Officer provided an update on matters of interest. It was noted that a funding application had been received after the agenda had been published. The grant requested by the Strath Taieri Hockey Club were required prior to the next meeting. |

The Chairperson provided an update on matters of interest including: · Maintenance of vegetation · Foulden Maar · Railway wagons being stored at Middlemarch · The Community Garden setting up an Open Pantry near the store and this was causing some concern as it appeared to be in competition with the store. · ANZAC Day – It was hoped to have a parade this year, and he was in the process of making arrangements.

1 An application has been received from the Strath Taieri Rugby Club for funding of $1,500.00 towards the cost of uniforms and tackle equipment.
2 An application has been received from STARTT on behalf of the Rock and Pillar Hut Trust for funding of $2,000 towards upgrading and fire-walling the kitchen.
3 $4,970.00 remains in the fund to be allocated.

Submission to Draft 2021/22 Annual Plan
3 As agreed at the March meeting a draft submission was prepared by the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson and circulated for member’s input. This submission now needs to be formally ratified. (Attachment A)
4 Local authority elections are held every three years by postal vote. Later this year residents of Dunedin will have an opportunity to consider whether they want to stand for election and/or vote.
5 Positions available for the Dunedin City Council include the Mayor, 14 city councillors and six members on each community board. Elections will also be held for members of the Otago Regional Council.
6 Nominations open on Friday 15 July and close at 12 noon on Friday 12 August. Information will be available on the Council’s website in July 2022.
7 Voting opens on Friday 16 September and closes at 12 noon on Saturday 8 October. Those enrolled will receive their voting papers in the mail from 16 September onwards. Residents are encouraged to make sure they are enrolled at their correct address. Enrolment details can be checked at vote.nz If people want more information they can contact the Deputy Electoral Officer, Clare Sullivan on 477 4000.
Dunedin Railways Limited
8 At the Finance and Council Controlled Organisations Committee meeting on 10 May 2022 consideration was given to a report on the Dunedin Railways Ltd – Updated on Funding and Operations. 9 The Committee resolved as follows:
10 That the Committee recommends that Council:
a) Confirms its previous decision of November 2021 for DCHL to operate and fund a limited service for Dunedin Railways Limited until June 2024.
b) Notes staff will report back to Council as part of next the Annual Plan process on the options for long term operations and governance of the Dunedin Railways Limited.
11 The recommendation is being considered at the Council meeting on 31 May 2022.
