6          Funding Application

 

The Board discussed a funding application for $1,380.00 from the  Dunedin Riding for the Disabled to send a therapy coach and senior volunteer to the New Zealand Riding for Disabled Programmes Workshop to be held in Wellington.

That the Board:

a)         Approves the funding application from Dunedin Riding for the Disabled for $690.00 funding assistance to send one representative to the New Zealand Riding for Disabled Programmes Workshop to be held in Wellington.

7          Board Updates

 

Board members provided updates on activities of interest which included:

-      Welcome Packs, Pim Allen provided an update on the welcome packs for new residents.

-      Proposed Civil Defence Day – John Moyle and Scott Weatherall would work on this project.

-      Greater Green Island Community Day – Cr Kevin Gilbert and Pim Allen provided an update on the Greater Green Island Community Day held on Saturday 9 September 2023.

8          Governance Support Officer's Report

 

A report from Civic informed the Board on activities relevant to the Board’s area which included:

a)         Discretionary Fund

b)        Retrospective Approval

c)         Draft Speed Management Plan – the Board agreed that they would submit to the Draft Speed Management Plan via email and retrospectively approve it at their November meeting.

d)        Brighton Domain

a)         Notes the Governance Support Officer’s Report.

b)        Retrospectively approves the purchase of a gift basket from Fresh Choice up to $100.00.

c)         Submits on the Draft Speed Management Plan to be approved retrospectively at the November meeting..

9          Community Plan

 

There was a discussion on the Community Plan.  It was agreed that the Waldronville Basketball Court would be removed from the plan and advocacy and support for the community project for a proposed Brighton Pump Track would be included.

a)    Updates the Saddle Hill Community Board Community Plan as follows:

-      The removal of the Basketball Court at Waldronville

-      The inclusion that the Board advocates and supports the community project for a Brighton Pump Track.

10        Chairperson's Report

 

The Chairperson provided an update on matters of interest since the previous meeting including:

-      Discretionary fund suggestion – The Chair suggested the Board host an evening for leaders/principals and volunteers in the community to thank them for their work noting that this had last been held in 2019.

-      Waldronville Basketball Court

-      Brighton Domain Toilets

11        Councillor's Update

 

Councillor Kevin Gilbert will provided an update on items of interest which included:

-      Keep Dunedin Beautiful Awards

-      Cr Cherry Lucas’s  appointment as Deputy Mayor

-      Committee meetings

-      10 Year Plan meetings

 

Cr Gilbert responded to questions on the new hospital build and work being undertaken to support homeless people including those living in cars in Dunedin.

2          The Brighton Fire Brigade have requested $642.85 funding assistance for the purchase of a “Little Annie” first aid training device for CPR practice.

3          There is $8,956.78 remaining in the project fund.

Island Park Recreation Reserve Update

4           Staff have provided an update on the Island Park Recreation Reserve planned works which is attached for your information.  The replacement picnic table is included in Stage One which will be completed before Christmas 2023 with the rest of the work completed in stages with timeframes to be confirmed. 

Meeting Schedule for 2024

5         The first meeting of the Saddle Hill Community Board is scheduled to be held on Thursday 15 February 2024.

6         Council will adopt the meeting schedule for 2024 at the December 2023 meeting.  This will be circulated to the Community Boards for adoption at the February meeting.

Review of Dog Control Bylaw and Dog Control Policy

7         Staff have commenced a review of the Dog Control Bylaw and Dog Control Policy  and would like to hear what the community thinks about dog control in Dunedin. 

8         There will be opportunities for feedback, including at hearings, over the next year. The Board will be asked to circulate information through its local networks at various stages.

Future Development Strategy

9         The City Development team will provide a briefing to the Board’s Senior Officer (Anna Nilsen) on the Future Development Strategy process to share at the meeting.  The Future Development Strategy will be notified in January 2024.

Roadworks Schedule
